The Data Science for Child Health Now in Ghana (DS-CHANGE) Team Science Practicum for Students, Faculty, and Healthcare Professionals brings together trainees, faculty, healthcare professionals, and technical experts to strengthen interdisciplinary collaboration and transform clinical data into meaningful research and health solutions.
Under the theme “From Clinical Data to Health Solutions: Building Interdisciplinary Teams for Research and Biomedical Data Science,” participants will explore the challenges involved in converting routinely generated healthcare data into high-quality, research-ready data. Key areas include data quality, standardization, clinical workflows, privacy, ethics, governance, infrastructure, and analytical capacity.
A major focus of the practicum is the proposed Integrated Clinical Data Intelligence and Research Enablement Platform. Through interactive discussions, expertise mapping, design labs, and team-based activities, participants will help define its requirements, design a clinical-to-research data pipeline, identify feasible interdisciplinary projects, and establish practicum teams and workstreams.
Across four stages—Connect & Engage, Define, Design, and Plan & Deliver—the workshop will culminate in a shared implementation framework and an actionable 12-month roadmap outlining responsibilities, milestones, deliverables, and measures of success.
